Total numberof riders - 1083
Round island ride - 579
Teluk Bahang ride - 218
Family ride - 286 ***TO CHECK ON YOUR REGISTRATION STATUS YOU CAN ACCESS THE LIST OF RIDERS. FIRST YOU NEED TO CLICK ON "JOIN G CLUB" ON THE TOP RIGHT HAND CORNER OF THIS HOMEPAGE
The total number has exceeded our target of getting a minimum of 500 cyclists and maximum of 1000 to ride with the CM. The number would have been a lot higher if we did not put a cap on the registration and unfortunately this unpopular move has to be executed so as not to strain on the budget and safety of this event. The large number of cyclists augur well with our pursue to implement bicycle lanes and dedicated bicycle paths and we hope this will send a clear signal to the government that cyclists need space!!!
For all participants we hope to see you on 25th. October, 2009. We hope all riders will cooperate to ensure safe and enjoyable ride.
We would like to repeat, safety is of utmost importance. The organisers will strive their best to ensure conducive riding but the final onus is on the riders to as this is not a competition and the roads are not closed for the rides. Traffic police, RELA, St John ambulance, Tejani medical centre ambulance, Lohguanlye ambulance, Girl guides, Rotarians and G Club members will be at hand if you need help.

UPDATES 21/10/09
A recce drive round the island on 17/10/09 showed there are a lot of constructions going on at the Jln Balik Pulau immediately after the Teluk Kumbar Puspakom ascending towards Genting. There are 6 traffic lights controlling short segments of single lane road due to closure of the other half lane because of the flyover construction. I would urge all riders to be extremely careful at these stretches. Watch out for oncoming vehicles esp on the single lane segments. There are also construction on the road side embankment and certain areas there are deep crevices. Quite a number of RELA members will be stationed at these messy segments of the round island ride.
UPDATES 20/10/09
For the round island riders, esp those not familiar with the route, please look out for t poster red arrows with our event logos on it mounted on strategic points to show you the direction. To further ensure that you do not land yourself in Butterworth, RELAs will be there to guide you.

MPPP has also consented to provide free parking (181 bays) at Fort Cornwallis car park from 6 am to 1 pm.
We also like to confirm that the Sg Rusa water station will be unique as it is actually a Pak cik's stall selling nasi lemak, roti chanai and teh. Road cycling has become a global phenomena. As more and more cyclists are expected to be on the road for various reasons. Awareness in the importance of sharing the road among the different road users is crucial.
Perhaps, G Club can initiate a fund raising campaign for the road sign. The fund collected can be utilized to install "VISIBLE" road signs along the major cyclists routes to create awareness. We always hear excuses like "shortage of fund" or "No Budget" when approach the local authorities for road signs or speed bums. Its better to raise fund and do it ourselves. Not all tax payers are cyclists...
Attached is the typical "share the road" road signs in the U.S.
I'm sure there are many people willing to chip in money for this kind of project. I believe the final issue is still the govt red tapes.
If funded privately a small "contibuted by..." sign would be great incentive for the funder. And do we need 3 languages?
Hmm.....cycling is a passion or hobby. I think most people will understand the road sign...Let's keep it simple minus the "politics"....otherwise, we may have to include Jawi in the kampung area...LOL
