Did a metric century (almost) this morning. Started the ride at 7.30am from Pulau Tikus. As posted in the ride announcement few days ago, I rode passed by G-Hotel to see if any riders were waiting. Well no luck though...:)
Since it was a solo ride again, I changed my route and extended it to Balik Pulau. Met my friend in Teluk Bahang. I informed him about the ride a day before. He had to be home earlier for fishing trip so he decided to join me at Teluk Bahang and turn back at Sungai Pinang.

Route: Pulau Tikus - Tanjung Tokong - Tanjung Bungah - Batu Ferringhi - Teluk Bahang - Sungai Pinang - Sungai Rusa - Jalan Bahru - Pulau Betong - Kem Bina Negara - Jalan Kampung Terang - Jalan Kampung Genting - Jalan Balik Pulau - Balik Pulau - Sungai Rusa - Sungai Pinang - Teluk Bahang - Batu Ferringhi - Tanjung Bungah - Tanjung Tokong - Pulau Tikus.
Total distance travelled as per my Garmin Vista HCx: 92.92km
Moving time: 04 hours 04 minutes (excluding stops for taking picture and rest)
Average speed: 22.80kmh
Almost 100km, a metric century! It shows that it can be done on the island itself. An imperial century next time?

At the end of Jalan Bahru was a T junction. Turn left and you will see a far view of hill slope that was being cleared for banana plantation, which is also where a descending trail from Gertak Sanggul trail located. The Pulau Betong village is 2km away.

At the end of the road was a coffee shop called Hai Ching cafe. The road beyond that led to Kem Bina Negara. This coffee shop is a usual stop for mountain bikers and roadies.

Road leading to Kem Bina Negara was quite undulating. Seeing here is the stretch immediately after the coffee shop. Nice, eh?

A view of Pasir Panjang, next to the Kem Bina Negara. A tsunami hit area where lives were lost. I clocked 45km here.

I continued my ride after a rest in Hai Ching. Seeing here is a view to the paddy field at Jalan Kampung Terang. After taking this picture I took a right to Jalan Kampung Genting.

After a short ride on Jalan Kampung Genting, I hit a junction. Not far on the left from the junction is another junction to Pondok Upih. I was very tempted to do that loop but time was not on my side! Decided to go straight to Balik Pulau and hit home!

Balik Pulau town, a 45km from where I started! Strong head wind greeted me when I started my return leg. Very tempted to stop at the Petronas gas station but I could already feel someone was nagging from my back! Man, it is always a torture riding under hot scotching sun. I made it home at 12.15 noon, almost 5 hours after I started my ride. Tired but happy! Of course, long hair was grumbling left and right. She thought I skipped work to go ride! Women...*sigh*
El Kapitan "informed" me about the ride tomorrow. A short one he reckoned. Very tempted. But family man now...*sigh* *sigh*

Hi, I'm new here and am staying in Balik Pulau. Actually I planned the same route as yours tho only one way. My wife dropped me at McDonald's in Sunrise Tower for a coffee but instead of going your way, I joined her and her gang from Fettes Park to Balik Pulau via Gurney Drive-Esplanade-Jelutong Expressway-Bayan Lepas coastal road-Batu Maung-Teluk Kumbar-home in Jalan Sg Nipah (opp KKTM). It was my first time over such a long distance. My wife and her gang continued on back to Fettes Park via Teluk Bahang after breakfast at the Balik Pulau market. Would love to join you one day but I'm new and super slow doing uphill climbs. Haha!
Do check this website often for ride updates. You can also post your ride here.

Nice to meet you. I usually ride on weekdays to Fruit farm and extended road ride on Sundays if I don't go mountain biking. Do check this website for ride updates since I normally post my ride plans here. I may be planning to do a metric century again after the ride with CM ride event.
I am not the first rider doing this.
