Dear look368,
Thank you for your kind words. You're Dr Lim I presume.
You have my assurance I won't take away the highlight of 2nd Sunday ride to Teluk Bahang. I will definitely join you and the 'gang' on the 13th. We can also discuss about setting a date for Sg Sedim and more brain storming.
Since long time ago, i plan to go this place bcoz near my hometown: kulim. i know that it's located at half way to baling. My suggestion is bring our bike and family there. So that we can enjoy biking and picnic together.
The thing is a lot of members do not know of this place. My intention is to bring them there. Some like myself will like to ride there. Whether you take a MTB or a road bike is again your choice. But I don't think 'uncle' wusolow have the energy to ride there, do some mountain biking and ride back to Penang.
If you like the idea of doing mountain biking in that area but not riding there, you can strap your bike on your car and drive there. Do check with turbosnail as he is familiar with MTB tracks in that area.
Some like Ray may want this to be a family affair. He'll get his HM (Home Ministry) together with her little cabinet ministers there in her car.
If you like just to drive there for a picnic....hey no problem man.

Dear Nightrider,
You told your HM that you are bringing the whole family for a day holiday in sungai sedim ma... will meet her & the kids there by 11:00am (for example). But, according to doctor XXX, cycling is good for me and you also invited a couple of friends to cycle there. Over there, you can spend your quality time with your family inside the recreation park...Your HM will think, when will nightrider so caring & loving. She will think that may be his cycling friends influence you ma.. so next time, no more problem with your VISA...hihi

Dear Uncle Wusolow,
For this ride, I will change my MTB tyre to sleek. I think you should use your new scott bike or MTB with sleek tyre. From the google map, butterworth to sungai sedim is only about 45km (less than round island) and I think it will took us roughly about 2hr cycling. If we still have the energy, we can go for jungle walk...
Waah...2 hours ride time to Sg Sedim cannot lah 'uncle' here 'boh teh' (no previous riding background). The road is a bit undulating. Not like Kuala Muda. I definitely cannot do in 2 hours. Anyway....
Yes I've been toying with the idea for some time. In fact before I got the Scott, I bought a pair of Kenda semi-slciks for MTB. Then I got the Scott bike and returned semi-slicks tyres. The reason I took my MTB for Sg Sedim ride was the comfort of riding with front shocks and high profile MTB knobbies. I know it has more contact patch and thus more friction. But 'uncle' semi old bones can't take all the vibrations from 700c higher pressure and lower profile tyres for that distance. So for trips to the unknown (to me for that matter), I normally take MTB. It's like a land rover, it takes you where you want to go at a small price. Heavier, noisier from knobby tyres but you get there with no worries.
Yes, one more fear is too many types of tyres causes confusion. I may accidently take the wrong size inner tube for trips then only find out when I have a puncture. I do carry patch kit but there are times when you got to replace the tube then kena lah!
So I'm still considering which bike to take, hmm....life wasn't that complicating when I had only MTB. Now it's like having two wives, go and see 'small auntie' and 'lau por' will create a storm or maybe tsunami. This one is no laughing matter...:-b
Ok, back to our subject, are you coming for Lembah Bujang trip this Sunday 6th Dec 2009?
Submitted by melissa on Mon, 30/11/2009 - 10:14am.
Wusolow,
How about this ->
We can have it as a quarterly / half year event whereby we can have family members tot along for the trips to places like this one.... Make it like a picnic outing....I know many of you are bound by "Visa" problems.... so why not make it a win-win situation.... you get to enjoy the ride, be with the family , kids get to enjoy some nature and you won't get "blacklisted" for for the next visa application.... HM wil see that all your cycling kakis are family people too !!
Just my 2 cents ...since I do feel guilty when I go for my long rides and let my hubby take care of daughter... hehehe....
Submitted by stingray on Mon, 30/11/2009 - 4:45pm.
Dear Melissa,
That's is a brilliant idea. I got a free space my wife car....why not you put your daughter in my wife car and I think my sons would love to play with her. So, this time..both of you can cycle togerther ma... You will not feel guilty and your hubby will enjoy your accompany...
Thanks for the ride offer for my daughter. Hmmm..... it's already hard for us to get her to sit still on her baby car seat..... U can imagine what it will be like to have her IN your car ... hehehe... Well, me and hubby already discuss that the only time we will get to cycle together is if the event is at Ipoh and we have somebody to take care of our daughter ... so we're now waiting for the Ipoh Fellowship Ride ... then daughter can be taken care by my mum/ mum-in-law.... Well, all things come with a price....daughter = priceless...

Dear nightrider,
The only problem is this trip will take up your whole day. Not many can spare that much time. There are chalets and the kampung folks have homestay packages too. It'll be great to spend a couple of days there. So much you can do but so little time.

Wusolow,
Its going to be mountain biking trip or we cycle there, park our bikes and enjoy the tree top walk, rafting and jungle tracking?
I have been to Bukit Hijau a few times but not this place. My neighbour used to go to this place for white water rafting and he told me its nice.
If its mountain biking, I may have to consider buying a MTB....

where about is this place located ?? any other landmark ??
I used to go there mountain biking very often. It's located off Kulim High Tech. Here is the coordinates: N5° 24.790 E100° 46.836
I don't know the beutiful singletrack still exists or not. If it is still there, it is a trail worth visiting for mountain biking.
Yes turbo your right. Bukit Hijau is on one side while Sg Sedim Recreation Park is on the other.
Dear Captain,
It's situated in the Bintang Range near the Kedah and Perak border.
A great place, where you can swim, whitewater rafting, flying fox, abseiling, and all the outdoor stuff.
Driving there is not a problem but take about 3 to 3.5hours (by my standard) to ride a bike there.
I'll post the trail in www.everytrail.com soon.
Best regards,
wusolow
It's somewhere off Lunas. I tracked it about 44km off the ferry terminal in Butterworth one way.
Dear nightrider,
From Kulim Hi Tech take the road to Mahang. From my home to Sg Sedim it's 71.4Km on my cyclometer.
Rode from B'w to Jln Telega Air, Jln Permatang Pauh, to Kubang Semang. From Kubang Semang take BKE to Hi Tech. and the rest is history.
3 to 3.5 hours ride from B'w. So it's a whole day affair. But I tell you it's worth every calorie you burn man!
It's just that I don't have time to explore further due to time constrain.
Maybe we can ride there, then get HM to follow in car. Take bike back in car. You happy HM also happy. What you think?
Best regards,
wusolow
