The green gold ride is published in the Sin Chew daily. The article mentioned 2 Japanesesfrom 'Malaysia My Second Home' program is also participated in the joy ride. I bet one of them is Susumu San :-) If i'm not mistaken, you also can find the photo(the very last photo, 4 of 4) of the courtesy perodua driver trailing the convoy as mentioned by Doc.
On 17/1/10, Robert Lee and family, Susumu,Wayne, Raymond, Ben (Daniel Junior), TAn Boon Heng & band of merrymen and Myself with my daughter took part in the Green Gold ride.
We drove to SMJK Air Tawar and meet up with the Laksamana grp and participants. All in we hv more than 100 riders (all their courtesy nasi lemak 110 packets not enough). We cycled along padi fields and finally thru Malay village and a fishing village. The whole journey was very well planned and executed. The Laksamana gp really make sure that the riders are well taken care of.Every junction was well taken care off by their own marshalls and the police outriders. They even hv a sweeper trucks with spare bicycle for those who need one in an emergency. At one point a notice a perodua was trailing our convoy with emergency lights flashing and slowing down all the vehicles at the back and finally at a junction where we hv to cross to the other side the car stop and all the traffic at the back also stop to allow the cyclists to pass. It was a very well organised trip.
AT the end of the ride all the cyclists were treated to courtesy nasi lemak and water transported from BW to Sg Muda. It was a delicious nasi lemak.
The official Green Gold ride is in May 2010, We will go. Sorry abt not able to go to my Malay staff house together. At first we thought it is very far but it is only across the river!!! Robert and I drove there and when we visit the "whispering fish market" near to my staff house, we suddenly realised we cycled on the opposite side!!
Anyway we had cakes and fresh coconut plucked from the trees at their place and we also bring back some coconuts to eat the next day.

So hats off to the Laksamana grp.
Dear Dr,
Many thanks for the nice arrangement of ride to Kuara Muda.
The ride in the rice field was so fresh and impressive.
We could enjoy the nice smell of rice, especially the view of about 100 riders
running in the field was something we can never find in Penang Island.
I expect to attend this ride in Dec.2010.
Susumu
