Route: Pulau Tikus - Mt Erskine - Vale of Temp - Chee Seng Garden - Ratu Mutiara - Tanjung Bungah - Tanjung Tokong - Gurney Drive - Pulau Tikus
Distance: 18km
Terrain: Hills!
Time: 1 hour
Description: My first real road ride after one and the half months of getting my broken wrist to recover. Nothing beat the real thing. But due to inactivity, I could feel my strength and stamina were not as good as before. Those mole hills felt like Mt. Everest! Felt difficult to maintain my usual cadence of 80-90 rpm too. Gear ratio maintained at 39-19/21 on hills(Reservoir, Chee Seng Garden) and 39-15 on flat. Put brace on wrist really helps. But no, not ready yet for long ride. Anything that's less than 75km should be ok(yeah I wish!). Will try to put on some mileage soon!

Saw you today riding past Island Plaza. Doing good speed. You don't even look worn! Welcome back brother!
Route: P. Tikus - Tg Tokong - Tg Bungah - Batu Ferringhi - Tlk Bahang and back
Distance: 36km
Start Time: 1745 hours
Finish Time: 1915 hours
Time: 1.5hours
Avg speed: 24kph
It was my second attempt to try it out on how my recovering wrist coped with the stress. I was actually slower by 2.5kph, which the average speed showed that. Rode with 39/15 on to Tlk Bahang and before the peak of road next to The Cove and on return leg from Penang Swimming Club to Gurney Drive to P. Tikus I was on 53/15.
Niterider, sorry I did not see you. I was actually gasping for air already when I rode pass Island Plaza!
I will rest for another two days to see if the symptom comes back.
P.S: saw few roadies working hard on their bikes, included my friend Azmi. Secret training for IS2010?
After four days of cycling, the pain comes back again. Yeah I know I should have rested longer for full recovery. But thanks to my "itchiness", I could not wait that long to go back to saddle again.
Look like not only I have to rest longer but also have to re-think about my participation in IS2010, the PCC event that I have so looked forward to! *sigh*
Arggh....
turbo,
if can't make it to this year's PCC IS don't be sad, still have Century Ride in July. better let your wrist fully recover first. the pounding from the stiff road ride can be really hard on the wrists.
We have been looking forward to hear from you of this good news.
It is also very much appreciated of your several comments and informations introducing
a topic, basic knowledge of riding and etc in world wide bases.
I am quite sure that not only newbies but also well trained riders are very keen to read
your valuable articles . Thank you! and see you soon! Susumu
Glad to know you are back on your wheels.
You running standard crankset huh!
I find it tough to climb tlk bhg & balik pulau hills even with 34-25.
Start to accumulate mileage n, or my legs will become squid tentacles soon! Still thinking if I should go off road or a mid-distance ride to Pantai Aceh and back this coming Sunday!
It's a very good start for such a long absence. Waiting to join you for a longer ride. Keep in touch man...
