Interesting device

Travelling Two - a couple who've done more of their own fair share of bicycle touring and whose very impressive website can be accessed here did a review on 3 peeing devices a last week. No - you're not reading that incorrectly. I did indeed say PEEING DEVICES.

Amphibious bicycle ?

Don’t know what you were expecting, but this is not some high-tech, revolutionary vehicle. It’s just an interesting home-made amphibious bicycle.

Li Weiguo is the man who designed and built this floating bicycle, and the girl riding it in the photos is his daughter Li Jin. His amphibious bicycle has eight water buckets that act as pontoons and adjustable vane wheels that provide the driving power. It might not look as good as other custom made bikes, but at least you can ride it on water and land alike, and that’s the whole point.

The amphibious bike was presented on May 30 2009, in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China.

Pedal power for homeless

The bicycle is an amazing technological innovation, and creative people never seem to run out of amazing ways to use it. While the riders in the Tour de France are now using their bikes to descend mountain passes at speeds in excess of 60 mph, others are using bikes for more practical and charitable purposes. Case in point: The Chattanooga Community Kitchen and Outdoor Chattanooga have joined to give the homeless some pedal power.

24 karat plated !

I realize that blogging about 24 karat plated, crystal adorned bicycles during the United States present economic climate is nothing short of obnoxious. But it doesn't detract from the perverse fascination I have for these sort of luxury items. And this one is a doozy.

Refurbish classic bicycles

Love and passion, rather than return on investment, inspired Sumone Khoosuwan, the managing director of Khookhum graphic design studio, to set up her classic bicycle refurbishment business, the Rebiker, Ride with Style, about a year ago.

Ms Sumone shows off one of the retro-look bicycles in which her company specialises.

"The profit is very small but I'm very happy every time I work on a bicycle. It's really good when you see people love your work too," she said.

Bypassed heart bypass !

One of the Betong(Thailand) riders that came to Penang recently was supposed to go for a heart bypass but after taking up rigorous riding he was cleared and given a clean bill of health !  Apparently he rides an average 60-70km a day !

If you go to Betong around 4-5pm, very likely you will bump into him.  He hangs around Ming's bicycle shop waiting for kaki to ride....

Should CAMPAIGN FOR A LANE - COME RIDE WITH THE CM; 2nd EDITION (2010) be continued this year in September or October, 2010 ?

We have received news from the state exco that there are too many bicycling events and some of it should be combined (in other words cancelled). To me this is a silly notion. The more cycling events there are in the state, the more awareness there will be and it should augur well for the cycling community.
